Dr. Dawn Mayo has over 35 years of experience in the medical field as an OB/GYN. She graduated from Tulane Medical School and completed her residency through Walter Reed AMC. She traveled the world providing OB/GYN care through the Army until she returned to Texas to open a private practice in San Antonio. She served as Chief of Staff for Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio while also running a very busy clinic practice. In June of 2017, she was called to Medina Healthcare System to work alongside this wonderful team of physicians.

Dr. Mayo could practice women’s health anywhere she chose. Her knowledge in this field is tremendous—she is an educator, a provider, and a supporter to each patient she sees. She is also a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP), bringing advanced expertise in menopause management and midlife women’s health to her patients.

She and her husband, George, and daughter, Kaitlyn, love what Medina County has to offer both personally and professionally and proudly call it home. When not practicing medicine, you’ll find the Mayos spending time with family and enjoying life among their cattle, goats, chickens, and other farm animals.

Dr. Mayo’s areas of expertise are specialized in women’s health. She provides gynecological care within the Medical Clinic of Hondo on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and in the Medical Clinic of Castroville on Wednesday. She is always accepting new patients and gynecology referrals and is credentialed with all insurances.
