Dr. Movahed attended University of Texas in Austin for undergrad, studying human biology. He then received his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from University of North Texas Health Science Center's Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. He then finished an Internal Medicine Residency in Cleveland at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation before completing his Cardiology Disease Fellowship at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine's Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.

While growing up Dr. Movahed's father had heart issues it eventually leading to a heart attack and quadruple bypass. With a history of heart disease in his family, the topic of genetics and heart issues was always discussed.

"It seemed like the natural path for me to go into Cardiology." Dr. Movahed says. "Then I could help families make decisions like we had to, and hopefully give patients the assistance they need before surgical intervention is needed"

He belongs to a number of professional associations, including American College of Cardiology and American Medical Association.
